Blood glucose level is maintained with the help of two most important hormones Insuline Glucagon When blood glucose level is high insulin is released from the pancreas. This leads to an increase in uptake of glucose by the cells. It also leads to rapid conversion of glucose to glycogen. Hence leading to decrease in blood glucose level. In contrast when blood glucose level is extremely low this leads to the release of another hormone from pancreas known as glucagon that rapidly starts to break glycogen to glucose hence leading to increase in the level of blood glucose.
