The neurons are specialized cells that can transmit the information in the form of electrical impulses. The neurons have long axons that are fibres and these impulses pass along them. The electrical impulses move along the axon by jumping between the nodes. The nodes are those sections of axons which do not have any fatty insulation. On the other hand, some sections have a fatty sheath that is wrapped around the axons called myelin sheath. The electrical impulses cannot pass through them but can only cross them by jumping from one node to another node. This ensures that the movement is rapid and quick reactions are taken.
