Ph.D. in History from Stanford University
I have a Ph.D. in History from Stanford University, which has helped me in my 22-year teaching career. I love bringing history to life for my students, going beyond just reading textbooks.I am proud of my career, which focuses on doing well in academics. I focus on helping students analyze history, question stories, and form their own opinions. History is not something you just learn about, it's an opportunity to connect with the past and learn valuable lessons for the future.
I believe that history should be taught in a way that fully engages students. I use different ways of teaching, like acting out scenarios, discussing topics, and recreating historical events, to help students understand the past. By doing these activities, students learn a lot about history and also get better at thinking critically by looking at what happened and considering different points of view.
Rhys is so cooperative. He is highly recommended by my side. He helped me a lot when I was struggling with my exams.
Rhys is okay, I guess. He's a bit too serious in class. Sometimes, I wish he'd lighten up a bit and make history fun. The assignments are kinda challenging, and he doesn't give us much time to complete them. But, to be fair, I've improved my history grades with his help, so that's something.
Rhys has been kind in improving my history course. His classes are structured and well-prepared. He encourages critical thinking and deep analysis, which has been immensely helpful. However, I'd appreciate it if he could provide more detailed assignment feedback. Overall, a great tutor for serious history students.
Master's in History
I have a Master's degree in History from Yale University and I have been teaching for 18 years. I am dedicated to helping people develop a lifelong passion for history.I have studied different historical periods and used what I learned to improve my teaching by including ideas from various subjects. I teach my students to think carefully and make connections between history, literature, sociology, and other issues. This helps them have a complete understanding of the topics
I prioritize teaching critical thinking skills. I tell my students to explore different perspectives on historical events, to question and test their ideas, and to ask questions. Students improve their ability to analyze and understand the past by participating in exciting class discussions, studying sources, and evaluating historical records.
I found Martha's teaching style a bit too dry for my taste. She tends to focus a lot on dates and facts, which can make history feel like a boring memorization task. I prefer a more interactive approach to learning.
Martha's classes are informative, but I find them a bit overwhelming at times. She covers a lot of material in a short period, which can be challenging to keep up with. However, if you're dedicated to history, she can be a valuable resource.
PhD in American History and Criticism
I have roughly 3,000 hours of experience in personalized tuition. The majority of this has been with A-level students, across the three major exam boards. I cover the content, teach essay-writing, and prepare pupils for exams. I have also taught the same subject in university courses. Plus, I have given guidance on research projects, coursework and masters dissertation.
All students have different requirements, so the structure of lessons varies. This is something that I discuss and agree upon by the end of the first session. My general approach is divided into three categories: essays, content, and exam preparation.
Great tutor. Knowledgeable, friendly, and always ready. I highly recommend it.
So pleased I found Isla through this website. She has mentored and is still teaching me in A level history course. I'm very happy with her lessons. She brings new ideas and information to boost my knowledge.
Excellent tutor, fully prepared for sessions, and assigns me work until the next session. I have no idea where to start for revision but with Isla's instructions, I can plan ahead.
Bachelor's in History
I became a history tutor after earning a Bachelor's degree in History from the University of Manchester. I have taught history for over six years and have learned how to make it enjoyable instead of difficult.I focus on tailoring my teaching to match the individual learning styles of my students. I think history is not just about memorizing facts but about deeply understanding human stories and the lessons we can learn from them.
I believe in learning through doing and having real-life experiences. I believe that studying history should go beyond reading information from a book. To make history easier to understand, I use activities like acting out historical events and doing hands-on projects. Students actively participate in recreating historical scenarios, which helps them gain a better understanding of the challenges and hardships people experienced in the past.
Maisie is an excellent history tutor. Her use of real-world examples and interactive activities helped me understand complex historical concepts. She's patient and always willing to provide additional support when needed. Highly recommended.
Maisie's classes are fun, and she loves history. However, I sometimes feel that she could provide more structured lessons. It would be helpful if she followed a more straightforward curriculum outline.
I've had mixed experiences with Maisie. While her enthusiasm for history is evident, I sometimes need clarification on her explanations. She could benefit from providing more straightforward explanations and organizing the content better.
