Master's in Classical Philology
I have been teaching Latin to different students for twenty years. It has been exciting to read the stories of Cicero, Horace, and Seneca again and again with my students. Each time, their perspectives bring a fresh new look to our discussions. I've learned that Latin is more than just a language. It helps us understand our history, culture, and even other languages. I have had the privilege of teaching both young students who are just starting to learn Latin and adults who are interested in it because they love it or have an academic interest in it. I have helped many people pursue further education or careers in this old language.
I make my students study Roman art and architecture, delve into classical mythology, and examine the customs and traditions of ancient Rome. You'll gain a comprehensive understanding of how Latin language and culture are interconnected, allowing you to approach Latin studies with a more holistic perspective. My approach is perfect for those who wish to explore Latin beyond the confines of language learning and dive into the fascinating world of Roman civilization. By understanding the cultural context, you'll develop a deeper connection with the language and its historical significance.

Lessons with Isaac are a perfect combination for having fun and gaining knowledge. My one and only wish is that we could have spent more time learning about other works of literature.
Mr. Begum is patient and attentive. He ensured I understood every detail before moving on. Highly recommended.

For more than 14 years, I have had the opportunity to teach many different students Latin. I have helped high school students learn the language and guided university scholars in studying Latin literature. These interactions have greatly improved my teaching approach. I have experience teaching students who are having a hard time understanding difficult concepts. This has helped me learn how to adjust my teaching speed and methods to make learning effective and fun.
My approach revolves around learning Latin poetry, where words transform into beautiful art. In this approach, we will study the writings of well-known Latin poets like Horace, Catullus, and Propertius, and others. Students will like Latin poetry, understand the different patterns and techniques used, and even make their own Latin verses. We will begin with easy poems and then move on to harder ones. By carefully reading, analyzing, and understanding, students will develop a deep understanding of the subtle aspects of Latin poetry. We will also talk about the history and culture when these poems were written. This will help students understand and relate to the feelings and ideas in each poem.
Mr. Pearce's passion for Latin is evident in his lessons. I just wish we had more interactive activities.
Finley’s lessons have been a lot of fun for me. After a two-year break after GCSE Greek, he skillfully brought me back into A level Greek, which made me love and be interested in the topic all over again. Finley’s lessons have been helpful, efficient, and fun. His quick wit and dry humor make dry topics intriguing, and his wide range of knowledge lets him give interesting background on Hellenistic stories and ways of life. Thank you very much for recommending him!
Master's in Classical Studies
I started learning Latin before I became a Latin teacher. As a young student, I was fascinated by ancient Rome, its history, and how it has shaped the world we live in today. For the past 12 years, I have focused on giving students this experience. I have interacted with students from different backgrounds. Some of them are interested in reading classical texts in their original language, while others are simply curious about the language that influenced many other languages. I always prioritize the needs and goals of each student, and adapt my teaching methods accordingly.
My approach is to explore Latin literature focusing on famous authors like Ovid, Horace, and Pliny the Elder. We will carefully talk about and read their works to understand their ideas and excellent writing. We will understand the myths and transformations in Ovid's "Metamorphoses," a poetic masterpiece. Moving on to Horace, we will study his lyrical poetry and discuss topics like love, friendship, and the complexities of being human. This method allows people who love literature and students studying classical studies to have a more engaging experience. It helps them better understand and enjoy classic Latin works.
Molly has a unique way of teaching which I found engaging. Sometimes the lessons can be intense, but they're always good. She makes everything easy for me.
If you want to see Latin beyond just a 'subject', Ms. Wheeler is the tutor you're looking for. She paints a vivid picture of the ancient world. My daughter has just started her lessons with Ms. Molly and I am so grateful for her tutor.

Florence teaches my 17-year-old daughter A level Classics, and she loves it. Florence is just as excited about the subject as she is. She has taken the time to learn about her and figure out how to help her the most. She is very good at talking to her and giving us comments. I have no doubts about recommending her.
While Florence is knowledgeable, I found the pace a bit slow. But her dedication is commendable.
