In my career, I've worked to change the idea that mediaeval history is only about knights and castles. I have taught students about the Black Plague, Viking invasions, and Byzantine Empire, which helps them understand this time period better. I have helped many students in national history competitions, and they have done well.
Mediaeval Europe was a period of significant changes, including invasions, migrations, innovations, and trade.
