Hi! I’m an online tutor and a freelance Geographic Information System (GIS) analyst. I’ve been working with multiple grand organizations and startups and helped them perform spatial analysis or draft maps with the help of GIS. At the same time, I also had the opportunity to work with k-12 and university-level students, helping them understand the core geography and social studies concepts. My experience as a GIS analyst and tutor has drastically improved my knowledge of the subject matter, tutoring methodologies, and tutoring tools, allowing me to conduct highly-effective personalized lesson plans.
Instead of using the explain-the-text-in-own-words tutoring technique, I use a project-based approach that involves having the tutee work on certain projects, i.e., presentation of certain social studies concepts, preparing documentaries, researching, etc. Getting them involved in the learning process leads to more effective learning and helps them remember the concepts for ages.
