MFA in Creative Writing, BA in English Literature, TESOL Certified
As a native of Dublin, a city with a long literary tradition, I was surrounded by stories about Joyce, Yeats, and Wilde as a child. My time in Ireland, where there is a strong literary tradition, made me really interested in writing and teaching English literature. In the past nine years, I have done different jobs. I taught at colleges in Dublin, held writing workshops in London, and taught literature courses online to people all over the world. I like to mix old English literature with modern stories to show how storytelling is always changing and important.
Literature is a way for people to have conversations across different time periods. When I study classic works, I always try to connect them to stories and ideas that are relevant today. This helps students understand that the themes and emotions in these classics are still important and relatable. How would Hamlet from Shakespeare's play react in today's world with technology? Which modern novels capture the spirit of "Pride and Prejudice"? I aim to make every class engaging and meaningful by having discussions, analyzing information, and doing creative activities. I want students to share their thoughts, make connections to today's world, and interact with the texts in a way that is meaningful and easy to understand.
I can't recommend him highly enough as a student of upper-level English literature! My skill and understanding have greatly increased in the topic since I started attending his lessons. He not only has a thorough comprehension of the topic, but more significantly, he is able to express things in a manner that is very simple to comprehend. He is really friendly, and the lessons are quite interesting. I heartily urge anybody searching for a top-notch English instructor to choose Mr. Sean.
I appreciate the contemporary links he draws. Just wish we'd sometimes stay more rooted in the original text's era.

MFA in English Literature with an emphasis on Post-Colonial Narratives, TESOL Certified
I started teaching literature in Seoul. I mixed English literature with Korean storytelling traditions. I started to understand the connections and differences between Eastern and Western literature. I have taught in different schools and universities around the world, focusing on the importance of literature in promoting conversations between different cultures. I have been studying post-colonial narratives and how literature from English-speaking countries has been received and understood in Asia. I have been sharing this topic with my students and I am very passionate about it.
When we read, we don't just understand words; we imagine being someone else, experiencing a different culture, or living in a different era. I want to make these steps very clear and lifelike. When we read Jane Austen, we will talk about the rules and expectations of society during her time. When we learn about George Orwell, we will talk about the political situations he was responding to. But I also want to consider: How might people from Eastern cultures see these works? How do different cultures affect how we understand a story or character? In my classes, I want students to actively participate in the conversation of literature. I encourage them to connect their own backgrounds and perspectives to the larger discussion happening in the literary world.
She is very composed, diligent, and professional. She assisted me in reading materials on many themes and studying for my tests. The first lesson was an orientation for 30 minutes, which I had provided her in advance. During our conversations, she contributed interesting perspectives on top of what she had read and comprehended. If you want to study extensively the certain literary masterpieces, I highly suggest her!
I appreciate how involved she is in each literary work, but sometimes I wish we'd cover more things faster.
Master of arts
Since 2012, I've been actively engaged in teaching both in school and through private tutoring sessions. My home coaching classes have welcomed students from nursery to 12th grade, where I've covered a wide range of subjects, including English literature from classes 6 to 12. With a master's degree in English Literature, I've been able to provide comprehensive instruction in this subject area. Over the years, many of my students have achieved excellent results in their examinations, with some even attaining the top ranks in their classes. This success has been immensely gratifying and has reinforced my commitment to teaching.
My teaching philosophy revolves around ensuring the satisfaction of my students through effective instructional methods. I believe it's my duty to impart my knowledge and insights to my students, helping them grasp the subject matter with clarity and confidence. I engage with my students by asking questions related to the topics we're covering, and their correct responses validate my efforts as an educator.
MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY, B.ED ,MED
My students have achieved 100% marks in Biology and Chemistry. I focus on a concept-based approach to studying.
I adjust my approach according to the student's level.
MPhil in English Literature, PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education
After finishing my MPhil, I became a lecturer at a well-known British university. I taught students about English literature, including works by Shakespeare and modern writings. During this time, I started book clubs to encourage discussions that analyze things outside of the classroom. I started a website two years ago that makes English literature more accessible to people around the world. It also encourages people to talk about both old and new books from different perspectives.
Literature is about making connections - connecting with the writer, the time period, and the main ideas. I design my lessons to make you think by connecting the text to the present world. I want to make difficult poetry easier to understand and analyze characters in novels in a way that is easy for people to relate to and understand. By doing this, students not only read literature, but they also get to experience it.
I have taken more than 20 hours of lessons with Laura and my English has gotten better in every way. She is great, and I would suggest her to anyone who wants to improve their English. That was my goal. I really like how Laura knows a lot about culture, writing, and history. It makes the language lessons much more useful. She gives language and real-life practice the same amount of weight and leaves room for open conversations. Most of the time, these come from words or topics we learn in grammar class. I will definitely keep going on my journey with her to learn the language that my family and ancestors spoke.
I wish we'd cover more authors in a shorter span. Good teacher anyway, highly recommended.
