Ph.D. in American Literature
I'm Guinevere Darius. My passion for the English language has led me to earn a Ph.D. in American Literature and dedicate 17 years to teaching. From working with struggling students to guiding top achievers, I've seen the power of education. I've also been involved in curriculum development, educational research, and even hosting literary workshops. My love for painting and classical music has often found its way into my teaching. Every day, every lesson is a new opportunity to inspire and be inspired.
I believe in nurturing the voice of each student, encouraging them to explore and express themselves. My lessons are not confined to textbooks. They are a mix of literature, culture, history, and personal expression. I use discussions, creative writing exercises, and even artistic interpretations to make learning a multisensory experience. My goal is to create a stimulating space where students can grow, question, and discover.
Ms.Guinevere is a good teacher, but sometimes the lessons are too long. I get tired, but I'm learning a lot.
Guinevere turned my fear of English into a love for it. I used to dread writing, but now I enjoy it. Thanks for being so patient and understanding! I can write anything in my English subject now. And with just one reading of exam or test questions, I know what to answer. Never had this much confidence in this language before.
I like Ms.Guinevere, but the classes need to be slowed down a bit. Sometimes, it feels like we're jumping from one thing to another.
MS
Highly experienced and skilled, dedicated, focused, hardworking, goal-oriented, and passionate.
Lessons are based on pre-lesson and post-lesson methodology and structured lesson plans.
MPhil Applied Linguistics
I started tutoring English when I was in school. I helped my non-native friends learn the course materials of class. Since then, I have been tutoring this subject to non-native people of different nationalities. I’ve experience in tutoring elementary English, O/A level English and high-level English to university students. Apart from this, I’ve also tutored over 500 IELTS candidates, out of which 70% are living, working, or studying abroad.
I choose approaches that perfectly match my students’ requirements. For tutoring the course books, I design the lesson plans according to the given chapters and topics in the books. On the other hand, for tutoring the IELTS students, I prefer using the standard curriculum, i.e., the British Curriculum, for teaching the four English skills.
A very talented tutor who knows how to work perfectly. She tutored me with IELTS subjects and made me a fantastic English speaker and writer. Thank you, Elmira!
Excellent, amazing, and very knowledgeable tutor. I recommend her to all the candidates who want to pass IELTS.
Her sessions are super-beneficial! Highly recommend!
Bachelors in Applied Linguistics
Passionate about learning, I am currently completing a master's in education and have also earned a PGCE, a BA Honors Degree in Applied Linguistics, and a BA Degree in Fashion Design, along with a TEFL certificate. Over the past 14 years, I have taught English and Business Studies to students in the UAE, South Korea, China, and Saudi Arabia. My experience includes both online and in-person instruction, focusing on creating engaging learning experiences using methods like Kagan and Bloom's Taxonomy, with students ranging from elementary to university levels.
My teaching philosophy emphasizes that learning should be engaging and that the role of the teacher is to encourage students to think critically rather than simply memorizing information. I strive to inspire students to teach themselves by suggesting ideas rather than dictating answers. I believe that a positive attitude towards learning significantly enhances students' potential, making it crucial to foster an environment where students are motivated to explore and learn independently.
Masters degree
I started tutoring at the university level in the US for many years. I am part of my university's Honor Language Society and hold a Bachelor's in Foreign Languages from the USA. As a language coach, I have worked with both children and adults.
I am very close to my students, and I bring a pleasant and playful learning approach to them. I am always jovial and motivate them to learn quickly through various techniques.
BA in English, TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Certification
I've spent 15 years teaching English, both in regular classrooms and one-on-one tutoring sessions. Most of my teaching time has been in middle and high schools, but I've also helped adults improve their language skills. Over the years, I've learned how to adapt my lessons to different ages and learning styles. I've worked with students who are just starting to learn English as well as those who are looking to perfect their speaking and writing. Through all this, I've made it my goal to make learning English clear, fun, and useful.
I believe in keeping things simple and effective. When I teach, I focus on the basics first. This means making sure students have a solid understanding of the foundations of English. We use everyday situations to practice speaking and writing. I also use common books, movies, and news to help students learn. I always keep an open conversation with my students, asking them what they find hard and what they want to learn more about. By keeping lessons practical and related to real life, I aim to make English something they can use and enjoy outside the classroom.
Ahmed made learning English fun. We used stories and films, I know, and it felt like I was just chatting with a friend, not sitting in a lesson.
Good teacher. I learned a lot. Wish we had more classes each week.
Ahmed is a great tutor. My son was struggling in school, but after a few months with Ahmed, his grades and confidence improved a lot.
MA in Applied Linguistics, TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) Certification
I initiated my teaching career in South America, assisting schools in enhancing their English curriculum. It was there that I realized the potential impact of English on bridging cultural gaps. My journey took me from schools to universities and then to private academies, focusing primarily on adult education. Over the past six years, I have also been hosting community-based English programs tailored for immigrant populations, ensuring they have the necessary language skills to integrate seamlessly.
My main goal is to make English easy to understand. To help younger students learn the basics of language, we use films and stories. When working with adults, real-life situations are very important, like how to do daily chores, prepare for job interviews, or understand local news. I give regular feedback and work closely with each student to make sure that each lesson is perfectly suited to their current wants and goals.
Many thanks:) There have been other English teachers, but Diego is by far the best. He is amazing and a great teacher. His accent is good, and his speech is clear, which is very important when you are learning. His lessons are fun and interesting, and they have a clear purpose and schedule. For me, this is turning out to be a lot of fun. Taking lessons with Diego is a good idea because of his efficiency, the way he teaches is very professional and interesting, and he is very qualified: he is a gentle and lovely teacher, so it's so fun and easy to have a lesson with him. You should definitely try Diego if you want to see results. It's the best option! I'm excited for our next lesson. Seeing you!!!
The classes are informative, but a bit more group interaction would be ideal.
MA in English Literature, PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
For the past 15 years, I've been passionately sharing my love for the English language and literature. My experiences range from teaching in prestigious international schools to tutoring privately. This has exposed me to a vast variety of learners, each with their unique cultural and linguistic background. This diversity has enhanced my own teaching methods, helping me understand and address individual student needs. My special expertise lies in IB curriculum and assisting students with proficiency exams. Having held a leadership role as a department head, I've developed comprehensive English programs that have been widely adopted.
For me, teaching English goes beyond mere language instruction; it's about developing a love for stories, culture, and expression. My classes are always interactive, focusing on real-world applications. I believe in a holistic approach, ensuring that students don't just learn English but experience it. Be it studying classic novels or critically evaluating modern texts, my aim is to develop analytical thinking, articulate expression, and a genuine appreciation for the language.
Grace is a treasure trove of knowledge. Her classes are not mere sessions but rather a journey through time and culture. The way she illuminated the works of Shakespeare and linked them to modern times was nothing short of brilliance. Her assignments, though challenging, always added value and sparked curiosity. Truly a transformative experience!
The lessons are insightful, and I genuinely learned a lot. But at times, I felt the pace was too fast, making it a challenge to keep up.
Ph.D. in English Prose and Poems
I'm Pascal Wade, a 43-year-old English tutor. I have a Ph.D. in English Prose and Poems, and an impressive 15 years of tutoring experience. My teaching career is broad. From guiding young minds in elementary school to mentoring university scholars, I've shaped the future of countless students. I've also taught creative writing, public speaking, and critical thinking. Outside the classroom, my hobbies like gardening and hiking have taught me patience and observation. These are qualities that I infuse into my teaching.
My approach revolves around professionalism. I believe in a structured and systematic method based on the needs and goals of each student. By using techniques such as textual analysis, thematic exploration, and rhetorical studies, I provide a deep understanding of English. I use modern technology and traditional methods to create a balanced learning environment. With a focus on critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication, I give my students the skills they need to excel in their academic and professional lives.
Dr. Pascal made English fun for me. I used to struggle, but now I'm one of the best in my class. He really listens and helps you understand. I love every minute of our sessions and love getting his guidance regarding the subject, exam, predicted questions, and more. Thanks a lot sir.
Pascal is nice, but the classes are sometimes too easy. I wish we could learn more challenging stuff.
I like Dr. Pascal’s classes, but sometimes the lessons are too short. I’m learning, though, and enjoy the creative activities.
PhD in Postcolonial Literature
I have made a proven track record of guiding students in GCSE English. I also develop study material based on a student’s needs. My PhD degree has given me an amazing research experience. I've used this ability to deepen my understanding of English and to create tools that relate with pupils. Moreover, I make all tutees have a firm faith in their abilities by building their confidence.
My highest priority is a complete coverage of the GCSE English syllabus. I plan lessons to ensure timely completion with room for revisions. Knowing the stress that can accompany intense study sessions, I introduce mindfulness and relaxation techniques. This approach helps in concentration. Furthermore, I believe in the power of creativity. I encourage students to think beyond the text, urging original thought, and allowing them to make unique connections. My methods ensure that students aren’t just prepared for their exams, but also develop an appreciation for English.
Despite her internet connection issues, the content we covered was done nicely.
Great lesson. Looking forward to studying more with you.
