I explain what each step is doing and, where useful, connect it to the reasoning behind the formula instead of asking students to simply remember it. Bachelor of Engineering
My engineering background has involved working with Mathematics in a practical and analytical setting. I now teach Mathematics and Calculus, helping students work through topics that require both formula knowledge and careful problem-solving.
I like to connect a mathematical formula with the type of problem where it is actually used. After explaining the method, I encourage students to apply it to a few different questions. This helps us spot whether they have understood the process or are simply following a memorized example.
B.Tech
I'm an experienced SQL and ETL developer with years of teaching experience. I enjoy working on problems where students need to combine different concepts rather than use a single formula from start to finish.
I often let students attempt a question before I step in. If they reach the wrong answer, we go back through their working to see exactly where things changed. I may then show another way of solving the same type of problem so they can compare the approaches.
MSc in Mathematics
I have an MSc in Mathematics and teach Mathematics with a strong focus on Calculus. My academic background has given me extensive exposure to mathematical concepts, and I enjoy taking students through problems that require clear reasoning rather than just formula recall.
I normally begin by asking the student to show me how they would approach a question. Their working tells me quite a lot about what needs attention. From there, I focus the lesson on those areas and use additional questions to give them enough practice with the method.
B-Tech in Computer Science
My B.Tech in Computer Science has given me a strong analytical background, and I teach Mathematics and Calculus alongside my technical interests. I enjoy the problem-solving side of Calculus, particularly questions that require students to think through several stages.
I usually organize a problem into four simple questions: What are we being asked to find? Which concept applies? How should we work through it? And does the answer make sense? Following this sequence gives students a clear way to approach unfamiliar Calculus questions.
Master of Science (Mathematics)
I'm Tamanna Zakir Ansari, an experienced tutor with a passion for teaching. I specialise in subjects like C language, Mathematics, Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability. I particularly enjoy explaining the ideas behind mathematical formulas because understanding where a method comes from often makes the actual problem much easier to handle.
For me, a Calculus lesson usually starts with the concept before moving into different question types. Once we have discussed why a particular method works, I like to use questions of varying difficulty. I pay close attention to the work shown in a student's answer. Sometimes the final answer is wrong even though most of the method is correct, so I prefer to identify the exact point where the mistake happened. We then correct that step and try another question to see if the same issue comes up again.
