My name is Zara, and I’m an online tutor with more than 12 years of experience in teaching. I’ve taught students of all ages and of different backgrounds. I’m good at teaching geometry, trigonometry, calculus, basic statistics, and algebra. I try my best to bring students’ engagement to the maximum level with the help of activities and materials used in the sessions. This helps students understand concepts clearly.
I use very interactive, engaging, and the latest tutoring methodologies in my one-one-sessions. My favorite approach for tutoring math to the elementary-level student is Concrete Representational Abstract (CRA) approach; this three-step-learning approach allows my students to manipulate concrete objects for drawing abstract observations and then solving math problems with created abstract notions. For higher-level students, I adjust my teaching based on the topic and student needs, using step-by-step problem solving and different methods like logical reasoning and structured practice.

After getting my CPA licence and a Master's in Accounting, I spent the first 8 years of my career with well-known accounting firms. During this time, I handled audits and worked on complex financial statements. I had the opportunity to train junior accountants, which allowed me to experience teaching for the first time. I decided to pursue a career in academia after this experience. For the past 12 years, I have worked as an accounting instructor at community colleges and universities. My role has been to simplify the complexities of financial reports and make them easier for students to understand.
Accounting is more than just numbers; it's the language of business. I believe in simplifying complex accounting principles by breaking them down into smaller, easier-to-understand concepts. I prefer a practical approach, often utilising actual company financial statements to illustrate concepts. By incorporating real-world examples, students can better understand how the concepts they are learning can be applied in practise. I aim to make accounting less intimidating by going through actual reports, from balance sheets to income statements. I prioritise practise by regularly giving students problems and scenarios to work on. This helps them fully understand each topic.

I have spent more than ten years helping students understand French literature and culture. During this time, I have learned much and involved myself in the French culture. I was born in Spain but have also lived in Latin America for a while. I have always been interested in the connections between English and Latin American literature. I started teaching in Madrid and then went on to teach at different universities in South America. I love exploring the connections between English classics and Latin American masterpieces. I have written several papers on this topic.
Literature connects different cultures, time periods, and personal stories. I want to help my students understand the bridge between different works of literature. I will focus on the story, emotions, history, and cultural importance of each work. We explore the background of each piece, finding links between worldwide events and personal stories. By doing this, students are not just reading. They are going on a journey through time and different locations, which helps them understand the interconnectedness of the literary world better.
It was great to talk to you today. My 11-year-old daughter needed to improve her English skills, and she is the perfect teacher for her. She first took a 30-minute trial lesson with her to see how good she was so far. Then we talked about how we were going to help her improve her English. I was shocked that she got exactly what I meant about the pros and cons of my daughter learning English. We can't wait to have lessons with her from now on.
