Master's in English Language and Literature
I have spent 20 years studying English literature. As an educator, I have witnessed the incredible process of learning. I have designed an educational journey that combines intellectual engagement with practicality. This includes exploring timeless literary works and understanding modern language. I find great joy in witnessing students thrive academically and develop a lasting love for English.
Constructively providing feedback can significantly benefit students' growth and development. After every session, I take the time to talk about what went well, what could be better, and ways to address any weaknesses. Furthermore, regular evaluations assist us in monitoring progress, guaranteeing that we are heading on the correct path.
This was my final lesson with Oliver, and it has truly been beneficial. I now feel much more confident about my exam tomorrow. All the lessons I've had with Oliver have not only helped me improve my grades from 5/6 to 7s, but they have also been enjoyable. He is skilled at engaging students with the work, which has played a significant role in my success in English. I highly recommend him as a teacher.
The sessions were good. The main points were addressed, but the interactions could use more warmth and personal touch. Overall, it's decent, but there's room for improvement.
PhD in English Literature with a focus on Post-colonial Narratives, TEFL Certified
I started teaching in Abu Dhabi, where I was exposed to a mix of Emirati culture and its connections with other cultures. I became interested in English literature in this environment, particularly in how colonial histories shape stories. In my career, I have focused on connecting English literature with the Middle East. I have worked as a teacher at local colleges and as a part-time professor at well-known universities in the UK. I have focused on the meaningful connections and conversations that literature provides, across different countries and time periods.
Literature shows us how societies and their histories are reflected. In our classes, we explore the connection between the deserts of the Arabian Peninsula and the busy streets of 19th-century London. When studying English classics, I like to encourage students to find similarities between those stories and our own history and stories. What would people think of "Pride and Prejudice" if it took place in Dubai? What common experiences and differences do we see when we compare Western literature with Middle Eastern tales? I want to have conversations about literature that bring different worlds and times together. I hope this will help students find their own voice in literature.
Rashed is a fantastic educator. Since I've been working with Rashed's, I've noticed that my 14-year-old approaches reading in a somewhat different way, such as looking up unfamiliar words online rather than simply skipping over them. I repeat a statement to her till she understands the meaning. She seems to be exercising critical analysis as well. He is punctual and really patient.
While Rashed's knowledge is vast, I'd appreciate a more structured syllabus for our studies.
Ph.D. in English Language and Literature
Hi there! I’m a big fan of Shakespeare, and this is why I started to study more about poetry and its magical influences on the audience. I decided to do Bs in english literature and then later on took admission in the same field. My desire to learn more about literature didn’t end there, so I continued my studies and decided to do Ph.D. in English language and Literature. I’ve been tutoring English linguistics, English literature, poetry, history of English Literature, screen literature, Early 18th-century literature, modern literature, feminists’ literature, and other such subjects to undergraduate, graduate, and P.h.D levels of students for 19 years. I can also tutor English literature to O/A level students studying different curricula.
In my sessions, the different aspects of literature, i.e., prose, drama, and poetry, are taught with interactive activities. I usually ask my students to read the content and generate a similar one of their own, like, poetry. I also play role-play games with my students in one-on-one sessions. The type of activity conducted in classrooms is selected with a collaboration between the student and me. I avoid using the drilling teaching method and try to conduct quizzes on a weekly basis.
Highly experienced tutor!
He taught me how to understand and write poetry. He is great!
Dored helped me with my grand assignment. He is a great help!
Master's in English Literature
Over the past twenty years, I have dedicated myself to the English language and its rich literature. Throughout my educational journey, I have been inspired by the progress and development of my students. I have worked hard to create an educational experience that combines knowledge with interest, whether it's analysing classic literature or understanding how language has changed over time. It is truly rewarding to witness students thrive academically and develop a lifelong passion for English.
I believe that effective teaching involves recognising and addressing the unique learning journey of every student. I strive to create a welcoming atmosphere where meaningful conversations can take place. By incorporating real-life examples into our discussions, I aim to make complex ideas more relatable and understandable. I strive to go beyond just achieving good grades on exams. My goal is to develop the skills of critical thinking and independent analysis. I aim to provide students with communication skills beyond academic settings, which will become essential for their continuous pursuit of knowledge.
William was an excellent teacher, without a doubt. He was very helpful, attentive to the task, and understanding. I wanted to enhance my English writing, and not only did we achieve that, but he also kindly boosted my confidence by acknowledging the aspects that impressed him! I highly recommend William as an English tutor.
William Davis is an excellent tutor and an exceptional person. William played a crucial role in the UK admissions process. She was considerate, conscientious, motivating, and extremely organised. William was a pleasure to work with, as he had a great sense of humour while still being professional. I highly recommend him to anyone getting ready for the ELAT exam or anyone interested in the captivating realm of English Literature.
William guided me well through my IB curriculum. I was having a hard time scoring well in this subject. But, after hiring him, I became more relaxed because he explained things easily to me.
PhD in English Literature with a specialization in Modernist Writers, CELTA Certified
I started my journey into literature in St. Petersburg, a city with a rich artistic history. I grew up surrounded by a lot of different cultures, which made me really interested in English Modernist writers. I noticed that their writing had similar feelings to the famous Russian authors. This curiosity made me want to study more in both areas. Eventually, I started teaching and finding connections between these two interesting subjects. I have taught in Russia, the UK, and some other European countries for almost 20 years. I am knowledgeable about the writings of Woolf, Joyce, and Eliot, and how they relate to Russian modernist thinking.
In our sessions, we don't just read. We also explore the cultural, historical, and societal backgrounds that influenced these works. I assist students in comprehending the thoughts and feelings of the author, as well as the historical context and events mentioned in the novel or poem. Because I am Russian, I often use different perspectives to help students understand how people around the world felt during the Modernist era. I want to show students that literature is universal and timeless.
Great Teacher.

PhD in English Literature with a specialization in Renaissance Drama, TEFL Certified
I began teaching at a small college in Argentina, where I combined my passion for English literature with the rich cultural history of my country. I have worked in different roles at schools and universities in South America and the US. I have a lot of experience analyzing Renaissance plays, particularly the ones written by Shakespeare, Marlowe, and Jonson. In addition to teaching, I have also planned and taken part in many literature conferences, seminars, and workshops. I like to keep learning and have been studying how digital media affects classic literature.
Method: We discuss the writers, the periods they lived in, and the events that affected their writings. When we read Shakespeare, we will also learn about life in Elizabethan England. What was going on? What were people discussing? How did everyday life affect the arts? The background enhances the literature. I make sure our conversations are easy to understand. How do old stories and plays relate to today? What can we learn from them currently? I want to connect the past and present to help students see English literature as more than just a subject. It can be a way to understand the world.
As of the beginning of May, I began taking lessons with Mateo, and I'm very happy with how things are going. The lessons are never dull because he always comes up with new and interesting ones. However, I came here to improve my English, but now we are already getting ready for the IELTS, so you can never get bored with these classes. Plus, I want to say that the lessons are VERY helpful. Even though Mateo helps me with Englis. He also has a great sense of humor, which always makes people feel better. In the end, this lesson has been very useful and enjoyable. I think he is the best teacher I've ever had!
His love for Renaissance drama shines through. I only wish we'd explore more modern literature as well.
MA in English Literature with a focus on Middle Eastern Influences, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
I started teaching in Cairo, where I was fascinated by the interesting connections between Middle Eastern storytelling and English literature. This made me wanted to learn more about the connections between the two worlds. During my time as a teacher, I have had the opportunity to teach in both Egypt and the UK. This has allowed me to bring a special combination of cultural knowledge to the study of classic subjects. I have spent a lot of time learning about and sharing stories from the Middle East. I have done this through seminars, reading groups, and interactive sessions. My goal has been to show people the similarities and differences in literature from this region that they may not know about.
I think reading stories and poems should also make us want to make our own art. After reading, I ask students to try and make something new from it. They could write a new part of the story, make a drawing, or try writing a poem like the one we read. When they make something, it shows they really understood the story. Plus, it's fun to see how they imagine and dream up their own ideas.
For students wishing to enhance their reading and writing abilities, Nadia is a highly certified literature and writing coach. She has been teaching writing and reading comprehension to my sixth-grade daughter for the last two months. Nadia is smart, understanding, and a pleasure to deal with. She provided me with a lesson summary at the end of each session so I could see what my daughter had learnt. I'm so happy I came to Nadia on MTS, and I heartily suggest her!
The cultural intersections are insightful. I'd just like to sometimes spend more time on individual authors.
I would give this class a rating of 3 stars. Although the classes provide a new and different viewpoint, I personally would appreciate a bit more emphasis on traditional curriculum texts.

MA in English Literature with an emphasis on Gothic Literature, CELTA Certified
I come from Budapest, a city known for its Gothic and Romanesque architecture. This influenced my interest in English Gothic literature. During my time in school, I have really enjoyed reading books by authors such as Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker, and Edgar Allan Poe. This love made me interested in teaching and studying the dark, hauntingly beautiful stories they have made. I have taught in Hungary, England, and the US for 14 years. I focus on how the social and political situations in the 18th and 19th centuries influenced Gothic literature. I also bring in a Central European viewpoint to the discussion.
Literature is more than simply words on a page. It shows different worlds, times, and ways of thinking. When we study Gothic literature, it isn't just about the dark tales but understanding the fears, anxieties, and societal pressures that birthed these stories. In class, I enjoy exploring different settings, analyzing the hidden meanings, and encouraging students to share their own thoughts and ideas. Because I come from Central Europe, I often talk about European history and how it relates to the Gothic era. How might people from Eastern Europe see Dracula based on their folklore? How does the book Frankenstein connect to the scientific progress and fears during the time it was written? I want each lesson to be like an adventure, where students are encouraged to think, analyze, and find connections between different cultures and time periods.
English is well-taught by Sara. She is so great that words fail me. She obviously enjoys teaching English and is quite knowledgeable about English literature. She is also highly supportive, organized, and full of enthusiasm. She is teaching English to my daughter right now, and she is making rapid progress in both her writing and grammatical abilities. Despite her young age, Sara constantly keeps her inspired and full of confidence. I hope she will keep instructing her till she earns her Gcse and even beyond that, until she develops into a brilliant English writer like Sara. Highly recommended as a tutor!
Her passion for the subject is evident. I'd love a bit more focus on character analysis alongside the historical context.
