I have been sharing this topic with my students and I am very passionate about it.
When we read, we don't just understand words; we imagine being someone else, experiencing a different culture, or living in a different era. I want to make these steps very clear and lifelike. When we read Jane Austen, we will talk about the rules and expectations of society during her time. When we learn about George Orwell, we will talk about the political situations he was responding to. But I also want to consider: How might people from Eastern cultures see these works? How do different cultures affect how we understand a story or character? In my classes, I want students to actively participate in the conversation of literature. I encourage them to connect their own backgrounds and perspectives to the larger discussion happening in the literary world.

After finishing my MPhil, I became a lecturer at a well-known British university. I taught students about English literature, including works by Shakespeare and modern writings. During this time, I started book clubs to encourage discussions that analyze things outside of the classroom. I started a website two years ago that makes English literature more accessible to people around the world. It also encourages people to talk about both old and new books from different perspectives.
Literature is about making connections - connecting with the writer, the time period, and the main ideas. I design my lessons to make you think by connecting the text to the present world. I want to make difficult poetry easier to understand and analyze characters in novels in a way that is easy for people to relate to and understand. By doing this, students not only read literature, but they also get to experience it.
I have taken more than 20 hours of lessons with Laura and my English has gotten better in every way. She is great, and I would suggest her to anyone who wants to improve their English. That was my goal. I really like how Laura knows a lot about culture, writing, and history. It makes the language lessons much more useful. She gives language and real-life practice the same amount of weight and leaves room for open conversations. Most of the time, these come from words or topics we learn in grammar class. I will definitely keep going on my journey with her to learn the language that my family and ancestors spoke.
